About the event
Dr. Megan G. Massa is Assistant Teaching Professor in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University. The lecture "Deconstructing Sex: Queer Feminist Theory at the Lab Bench" will be the first event of the Biology Lecture Series for the Spring 2024. It will be an experimental way to boost dialogue between students and faculty from different majors around the topic of sex, biology, and critical theory. Dr. Massa has conducted studies on the reproductive behavior and the role of testosterone and estrogens in different neurological conditions; plus, she engages queer and feminist theories alongside scholarship from science and technology studies to interrogate how social frameworks contribute to the neuroscientific study of sexed physiologies.
The lecture will take place in the Biology building - Room 114 as an in-person and Zoom event. We highly encourage in-person participation as the guest speaker herself will be on-campus and there will be time to engage in post-lecture conversations. Please help spread the word about this upcoming event.
